2017 Australian Maccabiah Team Selections

The 2017 Australian Team is starting to take shape with over 300 athletes now officially named to the team. 

Several Teams and Athletes were selected during October inculding our Open Football Teams, Open Men's Basketball Team and the first members of the Half Marathon Team.,

We will be taking a Rugby 7's Team to the Games for the first time. It will also be the first time since 2005 that we will be taking a Men's Hockey Team and a Junior Cricket Team.

The following is a list of selected Teams during October:

2016 MS MACCABI NATIONAL SWIMATHON

Don’t Miss out on this easy and great fundraising opportunity…….

With just over a month untill the MS Maccabi Swimathon don’t miss out on this great fundraising opportunity and take up the challenge, join in and be part of a unique event to help raise funds for people living with Multiple Sclerosis and for our athletes selected to participate at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

  • SYDNEY - Sunday 4th December 2016 - Moriah College Pool Queens Park Road, Queens Park
  • PERTH - Sunday 4th December  2016 - Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre 62 Alexander Drive Inglewood
  • BRISBANE - Sunday 27th November 2016 - The Jewish community Centre 20 Moxon Road Burbank

MANGO FUNDRAISER - WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM

The Women's Basketball Team are selling delicious mangoes to raise money for their Maccabiah experience.

Bowen Special Mangoes have the reputation as the best tasting mangoes in Australia! Try mango sorbet, mango smoothies, mango chutney, mango salad, mango lassi, mango yogurt, pickled mango, frozen mango, mango curries or just eat them whole! 1 box won’t be enough!

1 Box = $30  - Orders must be in by Thursday 3rd November

MAI TRAVEL POLICY


MAI Travel Policy update

The following clause within the MAI Travel Policy has been updated and expanded for greater clarity.

GENERAL GUIDELINES: TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Team Member Travelling Separate to the Team

Should a team member wish or need to make their own travel arrangements (eg. day, time, frequent flyer booking, higher class booking) independent to the Maccabi group / team arrangements, the following applies:

a) The team member must provide a written request in the form required to the MAI Executive Director, the relevant Head of Delegation of the team or nominated delegate, as applicable for the associated event or activity. 

b) Upon approval, the Team Member agrees to:

  • i) Arrange air travel through the Maccabi Australia official travel provider, Goldman Group, which operates as Goldman Travel (Sydney and Brisbane) and Travelcall (Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth) if departing from and returning to Australia.  The only team members exempt from using the Goldman Group are those who are living or travelling overseas at the time of the event or activity; they must notify the MAI Executive Director, the relevant Head of Delegation of the team or nominated delegate, as applicable, in writing in the required form; 
  • ii) Provide flight details in the form required to the MAI Executive Director, the relevant Head of Delegation of the team or nominated delegate, as applicable;
  • iii) Be responsible for the coordination of their own ground transport upon arrival at their destination; and
  • iv) Be responsible for the coordination of their own excess luggage requirements, if relevant. 

c) The team member will be advised of any credit against their team costs and of any administration fee payable for deviating from the team / group booking.

Deskworx is excited to welcome Maccabi Australia (Maccabiah Administration Team) to our  co-working space! From its short time here, we can already see that Maccabi is working hard to bring its amazing team of hundreds of athletes to Israel for the 2017 Maccabiah Games. We are glad Maccabi has chosen to work here to help accomplish its goals! 

We are excited to co-work with Maccabi and look forward to hearing more about the recruitment, training, and success of the Australian Maccabiah Team!
