Maccabi Victoria Sports Foundation Welcomes Two New Directors

The Maccabi Victoria Sports Foundation Directors are delighted to welcome:

Sophie Davis:

Sophie has completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing and Accounting) with over 15 years’ experience as a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) working predominately as a Financial Controller in the area of commercial property development and investment. Sophie grew up playing many sports at a competitive level, including hockey, tennis, horse-riding and cross country.  Sophie has two children who are also passionate about their sport and currently play with Maccabi soccer and netball.


Nicki Isaacs

Nicki is on the Maccabi Member Protection Policy (MPP) sub committee.  She has three children, two who love playing Maccabi Basketball and Football, and one child who is eagerly waiting to be old enough to join Maccabi.  Nicki has been a registered Psychologist for over 18 years.  She owned and ran her own practice for many years and is currently employed in both a research company and an eating disorders Foundation.  She is also on the Wesley College Foundation Committee and a member of the School Council.

At the same time, the Directors farewelled two great Foundation stalwarts – Nathan Shafir OAM and Harry Procel OAM, both long serving members.

Sophie and Nicki join the other Foundation Directors: Ian Davis (Chairman); Russell Jaffe (President); Michael Same (Treasurer); Joe Dorfman (Maccabi Victoria President); Michael Herskope; Ashley Krongold; Philip Sheezel; Dale Smorgon; Alan Synman.

Amazing Result For Junior Cyclist Jai Kanat


Maccabi Junior cyclist Jai Kanat recently rode in the Tour of Mansfield B grade men’s elite and came 5th in overall General Classification (GC) 2mins behind winner (3rd in stage 1 Time Trial (TT); 7th in Stage 2 and 9th in Stage 3). 

He also recently won C grade.

Amazing results for a strong up and coming rider.

North Caulfield Maccabi FC Win Season Opener

North Caulfield Maccabi Senior team won its season opener against arch rival Seaford United in front of a good crowd in perfect conditions on Sunday.

Marc Fridman Wins State U21 Billiards Championship

Mazeltov to Marc Fridman, who last week completed a great weekend in Cuesports. Marc won the Under 21 Victorian Billiards and also was runner-up in the Under 21 Snooker.

AJAX FC Season 2016 Preview

Finally after almost six months on the training track, the ‘real stuff’ has arrived and the AJAX Football Club are ready to tackle the competition with a renewed vigour in 2016.  

The club will be fielding an unprecedented five teams this year– seniors, reserves, thirds, under 19s  and a womens team , whilst the junior division will field 19 teams in the South Metro Junior competition.

2016 Yom Hashoah Commemoration Evening 5 May

This year’s Yom Hashoah Commemoration will be hosted by the JCCV on Thursday, 5 May 2016 at 7.30pm at the Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University, Wellington Road, Clayton.

This is a most important event in the Jewish community calendar and aims to honour the memory of those who perished in the Shoah, as well as the legacy of the Holocaust survivors and their families.  As such, we urge you to attend this significant event, and in particular to ensure that Survivors in our network are made aware of event so that they have the opportunity to attend.

This year’s program will address the theme of the ‘Holocaust in Europe and Beyond’.


Holocaust Film Series

We are proud to be once again presenting the Holocaust Film Series May 1-10 in Melbourne & Sydney..

This year we will present 25 films, all Australian premiers; features and documentaries from around the world on the Holocaust; films dedicated to stories of persecution, racism, survival and migration.
