2009
G11A
The G11A Maccabi Dragons have had a great start to their 2009 season picking up from a strong 2008. New recruits Natasha Wolf, Toni Sharp and Natalie Simons have significantly added to the team whilst summer indoor seasons for Ayelet Rev, Chani Charak, Tarrryn Berelowitz, Michal Kessler and Mia Kornfeld have seen them take the field with increased confidence. Talia Klimt has taken on the key goalie role whilst Ricci Amoils has slotted into her regular spot in defence. Woods twins, Kate and Eliza have returned from a successful summer of athletics with a spring in their step to help us conquer the full size field and longer game format.
After two strong wins in pre-season games and winning their first two games of the regular season before the holiday break the Dragons are travelling strongly. A 7-0 win today against Easts B underlined the strength of the group and saw the team working together as the players found their places in the new eleven a side format. The girls started to look for each other and their passing created many opportunities. As the girls work on their ball skills, their ability to "finish" - that is put the ball into the back of the net - is becoming evident. Thanks to Zoe Elstein (and her parents of course) for coming down today and helping us out.
U14A

game played against Maroubra Sat 4/4/09 at Coral Sea, Darryn Nohr scoring a goal from the corner.
G10C
The Maccabi G10C girls team played magnificently in their preliminary final with a score of 1-0, to secure their place in the grand final. The strong defence and big kicking game of Hannah Borman, Madison Lunz and Nadia Vidor ably supported by goalie Jessica Kaplan made it difficult for the Easts team to score, while the attacking skills of Lori Bernstein, Ashley Pillemer and Dominique Van Rijn ensured the majority of the game was played in the opposing half. Natalie Simons scored the one and only goal supported by mid fielders, Gabriella Cremer and player of the match Rebecca Gindin. Coach Russel Pillemer rose from his sick bed to attend the match and the courageous play of the girls made him and all the parents proud.

G10A
THE CROWD ROARED - the game ended nil all - versus second on the ladder G10Easts. The score was still level at the end of extra time. In a nail biting freezing world record prolonged penalty shootout (19 shots!) - Talia Klimt champion goalie - kept the shootout alive and Kate Woods and Ayelet Rev each scored - THE DRAGONS ROARED.
GO THE DRAGONS!

U13A semi final
On Saturday 16 August 08 the under 13A team squared off in the 1st vs. 2nd play-off against Maroubra at L?Estrange. Maroubra were superb throughout the regular season not dropping a point the entire season and finished well deserved run away league winners, with the Maccabi under 13A a distant second.
The game got off to a shaky start with Maroubra pressing for an early goal, the Maccabi back 3 of Ari Stein, Adam Silver and Jono Bootcov held strong. The clever one on one marking strategy of the opposition strikers by Solly Rachamim and Victor Bootcov , employed by coach Gabi Rachamim, neutralized and frustrated the opposition.
After a goalless first half both teams exchanged chances in the second. Attacking midfielder Robbie Ezekiel was unlucky not to score when a long range free kick hit the bar. Maccabi Goalkeeper Davin Glick kept Maccabi in the hunt with quality saves throughout the half. The last 15 minutes saw Maccabi attacking strongly through Dylan Felscher, Josh Gordon and Max Gering. Dangerous corners from Ryan Miller troubled the Maroubra defense, but unfortunately Maccabi failed to capitalize. Impact players Josh Orly, Jacob Melamed and James Puterflam were used well by coach Gary Felscher and there pace and aggression in attack were responsible for tiring the Maroubra defense.
With no score at full time the game moved into golden goal extra time, but with neither team capitalizing on limited opportunities the game headed for a penalty shootout.
The imposing size and agility of keeper Glick, gave Maccabi the edge and after two immaculate saves and clinical finishing from Robbie Ezekiel and Ryan Miller, Maccabi ran out worthy winners, and move straight into the Division 1 Grand Final, where they will meet either Queens Park who disposed of Pagewood 3-0 and Maroubra who as 1st place finisher earn a second crack at making the Grand Final.
