ROLE OF A COACH
The COACH is responsible for training and selecting the team for weekend matches. The coach should negotiate training times with parents and players. The coach is a volunteer, not a babysitter, and requires support from other parents and players. The most common cause for disputes in the Club have to do with the amount of time junior players can spend on the sidelines during matches. We expect coaches, managers and parents to talk, at length, at the beginning of the season about the approach to be taken to selecting players for matches. The coach has a responsibility to try and give all players a rewarding season and likewise players and parents have a responsibility to help the coach field competitive teams.
Coaches are volunteers. They
- co-ordinate the training sessions
- decide about positions and strategies for matches
ROLE OF A TEAM MANAGER
Each team requires a MANAGER is a volunteer. It is up to the parents in a junior team to appoint a manager. Of course, it helps when a few players and parents pitch in and offer to share some of the tasks. In short, they are responsible to:
- complete official score cards each match and report results to the Club
- look after the player ID cards and present them to the opposing team for scrutiny at each match
- help the coach by communicating to players and parents about training times, match times, social events etc
- facilitate discussion among parents and players to resolve disputes
As a manager contact the coach, work out weekly training day, time and location. Call and/or email parents and tell them training day, time and location.
Set up group email for all parents. Email them all a copy of the parents contact details and ask them to check it.
Send parents an email covering training, bad weather and training, team name etc. Work out a policy for wet weather training. Do you want parents to call if they can't make a training session. Make sure they let you know if they are going to be away for a game, so you can arrange to borrow a player if necessary. The more notice the better regarding holidays.
Delegate the jobs. You are the manager not the employee. If you have a home draw or win, you have to drop both team's score sheets into Gas Light Pharmacy after the game. Scores need to be texted via SMS to MyScore. See details below.
Encourage parents to be at the ground 30 minutes before the start of each game. It's very frustrating if players are still arriving just as the game starts.
Have a folder that contains spare completed match cards, some blank match cards as you will always come across a team that has forgotten theirs, the player cards, a copy of the draw, a copy of the parents contact numbers, a pen and a whistle in case a parent has to referee.
Remember to have fun
AGE GROUP CO-ORDINATORS
Age Group coordinators
- encourage and identify coaches and managers for each team in their particular age group
- oversee the formation of squads
- recommend to ESFA in which division particular teams will play.
- communicate to their respective age groups issues regarding policy, process and procedures
- act as a conduit to the Junior Soccer Committee
RTO REGISTRATION FORMS
The Junior Soccer Club has committed to implementing measures to protect children from the risk of abuse and harassment. Coaches, managers and RTO's are required to sign these forms to indicate they will adhere to child protection legislation.

MATCH CARDS AND MATCH REPORTS
The club secretary will e-mail you a pre-filled match card with the names of your players and their ID no's. You will be required to complete the following details:
- all players borrowed from other Maccabi teams (players playing UP a division or age group) must be entered by hand
- any player who plays from another team, the team for which the player is playing up MUST record the player's grade in the signature column on the match card
- shirt number of each player (under 6, 7, 8, 9 excepted)
- name of team
- age group and division
- location
- date
- referee's signature
- name, signature and ID number of manager or RTO
Team sheets are to be handed to the referee prior to kick off. When the referee has entered all the details on the match card, the R.T.O. is to check the result and take note of any cautions or send-offs.
For information about submitting the match card scroll down below to after the instructions about MyScore.

myScore Reporting System Using Mobile Phones
It is necesary to report results for each of your matches before Sunday 5pm on each weekend. This is an automated system that collects results reported by mobile phone.
In previous seasons the club competition secretary who is a volunteer was required to manually retrieve, compile and report the results. This took about three to four hours each week.
Reporting of Match Results with myScore
Our club will use the 'myScore' service to collect match results each week. This guide provides the key considerations for using myScore. Print this and keep it handy for match day.
What you should know to lodge results with myScore:
* Maccabi will register your mobile number and email address with the myScore system. Once, registered, you will receive a "Welcome" SMS and e-mail. Do not use another mobile to lodge results.
* Send your text SMS messages to 0408 408 241 . Do not place voice calls to this number as it is connected to a computer and cannot receive voice calls.
* When you SMS your results, myScore will reply with a confirmation email. If you notice that you are not receiving myScore reply e-mails, contact crosseyes@bigpond.com to investigate.
* Place YOUR TEAM'S SCORE FIRST regardless of who is the home team.
* Add Y or N after score to tell us if you had a referee or not. For example, lodge a result such as ?3 0 Y?. This meant that the team won three nil and a referee turned up. If a ref did not show, you would lodge a message such as ?3 0 N?
* Do not add any extra information to your text message. myScore is an automated system and additional information will cause your message to be rejected. For instance "Hi, 11G here, we won 3-0 vs Tigers" will be rejected by the system and a score will NOT be lodged. You do not need to say what team you are in because the computer has already matched your mobile tel. no. with your team.
* If you have lodged in error, re-send the correct result with the appropriate date. Sending with a different date will add a new match result.
* You MUST lodge a result whether you win, lose, draw, bye, cancel or forfeit.
* To avoid a fine, our Club must finalise results by Monday morning. So, PLEASE remember to SMS your score BEFORE Sunday 5:00pm.
Lodging results on match day:
This is the preferred method as there is less work for you and the results are received early. Try to get in the habit of texting before you leave the field. Examples of lodging results on match day:
* "3 0" - Your team played today and won three-nil.
* "0 3" - Your team played today and lost nil-three.
* "WF" - You won by Forfeit today.
* "LF" - You lost by forfeit today.
Tell us if you had referee
? Add Y or N after score to tell us if you had a referee or not. For example, lodge a result such as ?3 0 Y?. This meant that the team won three nil and a referee turned up. If a ref did not show, you would lodge a message such as ?3 0 N?
Lodging results after match day:
To lodge your result after match day, you must include a date in your text message. When including a date, ensure that you use the full 6 digits. Correct examples of lodging after match day are:
* "110205 3 0" - Your team won three-nil on 11/2/2005.
* "110205 BYE" - Your team had a bye on 11/2/2005.
If you are manager for more than one team:
myScore determines your team based on your mobile number. If you are the manager for more than one team you must include the correct team code as follows:
* "8B 0 3" - You are a manager of more than one team, and your 8B team lost nil-three today.
Byes, Forfeits and Cancellations:
"BYE" Your team had a bye
"WF" Your team won by forfeit
"LF" Your team lost by forfeit
"CAN" Your game is officially cancelled on the fixture. Never to be replayed.
"010605 PW" Your game originally scheduled for 01/06/2005 is officially postponed (deferred).
"010605 PF" Your game that was postponed from 01/06/2005 earlier in the season, has now been played and finalised. When you eventually play a match that was postponed, you will need to send in two messages; a 'PF' message with the original match date and a 'normal' myScore message with the actual match date to lodge the actual score.
Two matches on the one day:
To lodge two results on the same day, you must include a kick-off time with your result. Use the 24 hour clock and four digits as follows:
* "110205 0935 3 0" - Your team won three-nil on a match starting at 9:35 am on 11/2/2005.
* "110205 1430 0 3" - Your team lost three-nil on a match starting at 2:30 pm on 11/2/2005.
SUBMITTING MATCH CARDS
If your team wins or draws at home it is then the team manager's responsibility to take both match cards from the referee. Yes, collect the match card submitted by the opposing team PLUS your team's match card. Make sure the referee signs the cards after filling in the scores. Make sure you sign your match card and the manager of the opposing team signs her/his card. It is then the club committee's responsibility to collect match cards from all games we have won or drawn at home and send them on to the Eastern Suburbs Football Association (ESFA). A volunteer parent will collects the match cards from Gas Light Pharmacy on Sunday night at 6pm.
