Perth Hosts Epic Junior Carnival

Posted: 31-Jan-2017 by Maccabi WA

It has been a very busy and hectic week for the 200 participants and host families of Junior Carnival 2017. The kids have participated in a 3 full days of sport and nightly social activities. The sport was broken up with a day at Adventure World and Community Day on Friday morning spread amongst 5 WA Jewish community venues. The nightly social events included Bounce, a Hawaiian Pool Party, and Angels V Devils Roller Rumble, Outdoor Movie night in our Adonis Park and the Closing ceremony and Farewell party.

Lunch each day was delicious and healthy options provided by Cafe 61 and it was a family affair with Susan Schraibman mum of Debbie Katz and Kim Berelowitz (our official photographer)  organising a lovely group of ladies to help serve the lunch to the hungry kids.

A communal Shabbat at the Gordon Bloomfield Hall was held for the committee and their billets (100 people!!)  With the Team Managers presenting all their hard working committee with a plaque. All abilities Youth Leaders Mikey Sarif and Mike Karseboom had everyone in tears as they read a beautifully prepared speech expressing their appreciation for being included and being trusted with the responsibility of being a Youth leader.  All Abilities co coordinator Shayna Wolman did a magnificent job and had everyone in tears as she expressed how grateful she was that this was an ‘inclusive generation.’

The closing ceremony was followed by a Black light glow party where participants danced the night away.

Big congratulations to NSW girl Bronte Trieger who was the Youth Leader Coordinator and mentored and directed the youth leaders with great confidence.

Well done to a highly organised WA Organising Committee led by Maccabi WA President Joan Hillman, Debbie Katz and Debbie Silbert who said; “All the kids from every State were well behaved, enthusiastic, energetic and polite. No one needed to be disciplined or moved from their billet. It had been an absolute delight to run this Carnival.”

Tired and exhausted participants left early Sunday morning with many promises to meet their new friends again next year at the 36th Melbourne Junior Carnival.
