New Leadership at Maccabi WA

Posted: 21-Mar-2013 by Maccabi WA

Maccabi WA held their AGM last week and what a fabulous event it was.

The AGM was only the first part of the day, we then had the dedication of the main Maccabi Oval that was named the “Joe(Yossi) Rosen Oval” after his dedication and support of Maccabi WA for his whole life. We were then lucky enough to have West Coast Eagle Mitch Brown present the Maccabi sports awards for 2012 as a separate stand alone event – which saw the Gordon Bloomfield Hall jam packed with many young and older members of our Maccabi community. We then finished with a BBQ and live band which helped raise money for the Junior WA team members who are going to the Maccabiah games in Israel this year.

We are delighted to announce that Alan Shear is now President of WA Maccabi and is very excited and eager to “Keep the lights burning at Maccabi” and make it the hub of the Jewish community in Perth. Alan's opening speech at the AGM stated; "When I refer to the lights are on at Maccabi, I refer to all those who actually switch on those bright lights and keep the turbines going , it is our Executive and Presidents of each of our sub-clubs. I feel invigorated and excited to lead the Maccabi WA community into the future  to share our vision and implement our strategies in creating a strong future for Maccabi WA. As in the days of the Maccabees - The lights will remain burning at Maccabi WA!! ”
