Jonny Henquin 6-7 6-7

A team of impressive youngsters was too strong for us today.  Our team had positive moments but fell a bit short.  We hope we would be able to turn it around next time.

Grade 9 Black Rock 4-7-55 def Maccabi 2-4-47

Steven Kleytman/Darren Seymour 8-6

Lachie Zuker/Riley Brick 4-8

Steven Kleytman 7-5 6-0

Adam Needleman 4-6 6-4 8-10

Darren Seymour 5-7 4-6

Riley Brick 2-6 1-6

We came across a strong Black Rock team that picked a team to beat us . Both teams were in the four before this match. The clear stand out was Steven Kleytman who won a tough doubles with Darren Seymour ( who wound back the clock ) and went on to beat his strong opponent comfortably after losing to him in round one.
I am confident we will finish in the top four even if we fall out this week but we need a win .
- Adam Needleman

Grade 10 Maccabi 6-10-63 def Tennis World 0-1-28
Joel Rabinov/ Daniel Goodrich 8-3
Ben Pollak/ Jack Stock 8-3
Ben Pollak 6-1, 6-3
Joel Rabinov 6-1, 6-4
Daniel Goodrich 6-1, 4-6, 11-9
Jack Stock 6-4, 6-2.

Good to be back playing tennis, and equally as good to be playing an away game on Plexicushion (at Tennis World).
Joel and Daniel played the big points well to earn a 8-3 win (despite not playing that well). Although at 3-1, 0-40 was a bit concerning (although from that point on,Joel didn’t drop a point on serve which is a rarity).
Ben and Jack played well and led throughout for a 8-3 win in a comfortable win.
Ben played his best so far this season, for a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Joel did what he had to do for a 6-1, 6-4 win against an opponent that was hit or miss.
Jack played in a tight close set, with Jack managing the only hold of serve when he served it out 6-4. In a typical Jack performance, he wore down his opponent for a 6-2 win.
Daniel played a great opening set and a bit (6-1 and up a break at 2-1). However Daniel allowed his opponent to get back into the match when his opponent took the set 6-4 and held match points at 9-5 in the super tiebreak. Daniel managed to work his way though to win it 11-9 and seal our first clean sweep (6 matches to 0) for the season.
Overall: Great team performance.Jack holding serve all day in doubles, Ben’s most
performance for us this season. Although rust still in the system (Daniel had rust all day, and I almost cost myself big time in my 2nd set, missing 3 straight backhand returns off 2nd serves at 4-0, 30-40). Next week a top of the table clash, so will need to step it up (which I think we are capable of).

Our first loss of the season. No doubt the opposition will be the team to be beat in the finals. We'll need to bring our 'A' game next time.
