On a very nice afternoon, the team drove down the coast to Frankston.  The courts were brand new and the clubhouse facilities were very impressive - some of the best we have seen.  Both pairs completed the job in doubles to give us a good head start.  However, all four singles matches were very close (three being decided by super tie breaks).  So despite the 6-0 scoreline, the games count shows that the contest was much closer than this.  It was great to see Jonny win his first match at this level - he is really hitting the ball well.

The team for today was Ben, Daniel, Errol and Jack.
Daniel and Errol played a very solid match up first and although their opponents made them work for it, they were too good to win 8-4.
Jack and Ben started shakey, going down 5-2 reasonably quickly, however as they improved the returning especially and held crucial games, they really picked up their game and ended up winning 8-6.
Ben was in a very tight singles match, although he had great opportunities to win both sets, he couldn’t capitalise and lost both sets in a tiebreak.
Daniel was dominant throughout the match and won very impressively 6-3 6-0.
Errol was against a very good young player and he made Errol work for every point, Errol won the crucial first set 6-4 and then his experience came to the fore in the second set to win it 6-1.
Jack was made to wait for quite a while and although he started in the cold, he came out on fire, winning the first set 6-3, and then racing to a 4-1 lead. Although Jack’s opponent really lifted the next few games, Jack ended the match in very classy fashion, hitting some very nice volleys to win the match 6-3 6-4.
Overall, we continue our good form even with our inspirational skipper taking a break (because apparently Carlton means more than Maccabi.
