8 May 2021 - Round 3 Winter

WOMEN:

Section 2 Maccabi 3 sets 28 games got so close to Mordialloc 3 sets 29 games
Biaca Jacobs/Judit kegly 3-6
Anat Vernik/Andrea Tuch 6-4
Bianca/Anat 6-2
Judit/Andrea 6-7
Bianca/Andrea 6-4
Judit/Anat 1/6

Nice to get on the court again with all ladies winning a set at least. The
result was unclear until after the very final shot was played. It certainly
augers well for a fun year if we all can try and stick together &  put our
hands up to make a team each week if it looks like we are short.

MIXED:

Section 2 Maccabi 5-7-49 def Royal Avenue 1-1-22
Lauren Yarrow 0-8
Daniel Vertes 8-4
Nathan Rapoport 8-1
Paul Kovacs 8-1
Yarrow/Rapoport 6-3 7-5
Vertes/Kovacs 6-0 6-0

Another great Autumn day for tennis. The opponent's number 1 and 2 players were very competitive. However players 3 and 4 were young and inexperienced.
Great to see Lauren play at her best in doubles after a disappointing singles game. Nathan's forehand ground strokes were solid from the baseline.
Well done to the mighty Paul who put on a tactical display.
- Daniel Vertes

MEN:

Grade 4 Patterson Lakes 5-9-63 def Maccabi 1-2-31

Robert Minc/Steven Gostin  6-8
Damon Flicker/Alan Liebowitz 2-8
Max Needleman 5-7 2-6
Robert Minc 3-6 2-6
Damon Flicker 6-4 4-6 12-10
Alan Liebowitz 0-6 0-6

Damon Flicker put in an extraordinary effort to win our only rubber. Truly
remarkable Damo ! Nice to see.
The opposition are a solid committed players but the disappointing thing is
that with our best side we would beat them. They played their top 4 players.
Not sure if we will get to do that this century.
A big thanks to Alan Liebowitz for helping out being asked at 6pm on a
Friday

Grade 9 Maccabi 4-6-50 beat Scoresby 2-4-38
Steven Kleytman/Darren Seymour 8-2
Ayden Carp/Riley Brick 8-3
Steven Kleytman 6-2 6-2
Ayden Carp 1-6 3-6
Riley Brick 7-5 6-0
Darren Seymour 2-6 3-6

We were playing the bottom team and played well with all players getting at
least one win. It is possible that we lose 4 points for playing out of order
( 2 for the win and 2 for reversing two singles sets ) which is a minor
penalty compared to the good old days when a win was worth 6 points!!!
I think we are looking like we are going to be a top 4 team this year and
the excitement is building. Just got to improve my captaincy.
