Lauren Yarrow 8-0

Daniel Vertes 8-2

Ben Needleman 8-4

Datt/Yarrow 7-5 6-4

Vertes/Needleman 6-2 6-1

Clean sweep!
All four players had strong singles victories - Lauren bouncing back from last week and smashing her opponent 8-0.
In doubles, Alan and Lauren teamed up for the first time and didn't disappoint.
Daniel and Ben recorded a decisive win. Daniel consistently returning serves deep cross court and Ben's forehand was once again a match winner.
Next week, we look forward to welcoming Nathan Needleman teaming up with brother Ben.
- Daniel Vertes

Section 8 Maccabi 6-8-56 def Royal Ave 0-0-9

Ben Pollak 8-2

Mor Dahan 8-1

Daniel Goodrich 8-2

Jack Stock 8-1

Dahan/Goodrich 6-0 6-1

Pollak/Stock 6-0 6-2

Today was fairly straightforward, Ben, Mor, Daniel and Jack all played very well, both in singles and doubles. Although they played a pretty weak opposition, they all played at a high standard and will use today as a good stepping stone for the weeks to come.
- Ben Pollak

Section 7 Maccabi 4-6-60 def Monash University 2-3-41.
Alan Liebowitz 6-8
Albert Leon-Boyer (e) 8-2
Zvi Schweitzer 7-8
Doron Livshitz 8-3
Albert and Doron 6-7, 7-6, 6-4

Section 6 Carmelite 4-5-41 def Maccabi Carmelite 2-3-36
Brad Lowe 6-8
Steven Kleytman 0-8
Adam Needleman 8-2
Darren Seymour 7-8
Needleman/Kleytman 6-1 6-2
Lowe/Seymour 2-6 1-6

Once again we played a side we played last year in a higher section and fell
short. However, this week we had serious chances and just needed one more rubber to swing our way to get the win.
The highlight was Brad Lowe who came up against a seasoned veteran at number 1 . Brad went toe to toe with him and went down narrowly in a very impressive display. I am confident that we can resurrect the season over the next few weeks as I believe we have played 2 of the 3 tough teams already. Bring on next week !
- Adam Needleman

Section 4 Tennis World 3-5-54 def Maccabi 3-4-51

Geoff Rosenberger 6-8

Saul Muscatel 8-5

Marcus Frajman 8-4

Ryan Behr 6-8

J Muscatel/Behr 0-6 7-6 6-4

Rosenberger/Frajman 4-6 6-7

A narrow loss for the team today.  All singles matches were tightly contested but a special mention to Saul, who had a really impressive win again and looks to be in great form.  Fortunately and unfortunately, we were forced to make a change for the doubles rubber but had a more than handy replacement in brother Jamie.
As is often the case, the doubles decided the day.  Geoff and Marcus were in the game and will rue some missed chances to take it to a 3rd set. On the other court against the #1 pair, Jamie and Ryan were completely outplayed in the early stages and dropped the first eight games.  However, they worked their way back into the match to secure an incredible win in 3 sets but despite their heroics, we went down by a set.
- Marcus Frajman

Section 2 Dendy Park 4-6-53 def Maccabi 2-3-39

Max Needleman 8-5

Jess Flicker 2-8

Steven Gostin 6-8

Marty Schwarz 4-8

Needleman/Schwarz 2-6 1-6

Flicker/Gostin 4-6 6-4 6-2

We played a very even side with 4 courts available
Max played solid serve volley tennis to outplay his opponent 8/5
Jessie played a big serving player but lacked a little consistency when he had his opportunities going down 2/8 in a score line that didn’t really reflect the match
Steven played a consistent player but didn’t take his all opportunities to go up 4/2 to eventually go  down in a tight long 6/8 battle
Marty played a big forehand hitting player after being a long way down to eventually lose 4/8 a really good effort
In the doubles max / Marty played a well but a a first up pairing couldn’t match their well versed opponents going down 2&1
Jessie/Steven started slowly being down 2/5 fought back to 4/5 with serve but couldn’t level it losing 4/6
A change of tactics of serving to backhands more often hitting the down the lines with more attacking returns reaped great benefits to take the next 2 sets 4&2
A loss 2/4 but closer than the score suggests
- Steven Gostin
