Maccabi 4-10-65 def Coatesville 0-0-35

Damon Flicker/Ryan Sharp 7-5 6-3

Marcus Frajman/Ryan Behr 6-1 6-2

Geoff Rosenberger 6-4 2-3

Damon Flicker 6-3 0-2

Ryan Sharp 6-0 6-1

David Zulman 7-6 7-5

We went into the final wary of our opponents, who had beaten Adam Needleman's Grade 7 team two weeks ago.  We had a comprehensive report from Adam and from Joel Rabinov about Coatesville and much thought was put into the team lineup.
On a sunny afternoon, both Maccabi pairs started strongly.  Damon and Ryan S were approaching the net and making their volleys count.  Marcus and Ryan B exploited the weaknesses of their opponents. After an hour, we were 2 rubbers to 0 up and had not dropped a set, which gave us a great foundation heading into the singles.
Ryan S is in such good form and his easily frustrated opponent fell apart - it is rare to see such a one-sided scoreline in finals.  Geoff, Damon and David also won the opening sets in their matches, which sealed an emphatic result and some revenge for Adam and his team.
It was nice to see family and friends cheering us on and we hope that we can take the chocolates next week in the Grand Final!  A great team win.  We have really enjoyed our home ground advantage but will have to adapt to the en tout cas for next week. Come and support us next week!
