Posted: 14-Oct-2013 by Tennis

Zvi Schweitzer won the Victorian Tennis Championships for players with an Intellectual Disability held over the weekend of 12 and 13 October 2013. Zvi won his matches on the Saturday getting him through to the final on the Sunday morning. He started slowly and was down 0-4 in the first set before losing it 2-6. He then gritted his teeth and raised his tennis to a new level, putting more on the serve and more on his shots, giving it his all. The second set was on serve with Zvi ahead 5-4 when Zvi again raised the level and with some great returns and passing shots he broke serve to tie the match one set all. The third set was a 10 point tiebreaker. This time Zvi got off to a flyer, changing ends at 5-1. His opponent clawed back to almost level, with Zvi ahead 8-7 and two serves to come. Zvi played two beautiful service points, eventually winning the match with a forehand winner down the line for a two sets to one victory, reversing the loss to the same player twelve months ago.
