Janine Baum

Board Member

My parents locked eyes on the tennis courts at 97 Alma Road. Both played tennis and she also belonged to the ladies physical culture club. Love blossomed at a Perth carnival. It's no wonder that I have been involved with Maccabi all my life! From little athletics to grown up athletics, to girls gym at 97 Alma Road, to an involvement via my brother at the cricket club (no girls allowed back then) and then to Maccabi Basketball Club where I served as both club secretary and competition manager.

My older daughter played and coached Maccabi basketball for many, many years and my younger daughter was a national champion artistic gymnast. One of my Maccabi highlights was watching her compete as the youngest games athlete at the 2009 Maccabiah in Israel.

I was invited to join the Maccabi Vic board in 2013.

My background is in accounting and IT and I worked for many years in professional photographic services and digital printing. Currently I am a part time medical practice manager, bridge wannabee and St.Kilda tragic supporter.

My passions are cooking, opera and (most) sport. My role on the board is varied as I have no particular portfolio but involve myself with a variety of Maccabi undertakings and events.

I am a passionate Maccabi person and love my involvement and the cameraderie one enjoys from being involved in such a fabulous organisation, and from seeing our community connected through sport throughout all generations.

Caryn Kave

Caryn sees this as a great opportunity to give back to Maccabi and to use it as a platform to get more women and girls to become more engaged in Maccabi both on and off the field.

Professionally, Caryn is a qualified dietitian with a special interest in public health and disease prevention. She is currently working at AIA Australia, in the wellness strategy area. She is excited at the prospect of combining her passion for sport with her interest in health promotion.
