On Their Bikes in 2012 - Introducing a New Ladies Riding Group

Posted: 02-Jan-2012 by Maccabi VIC

The new year has begun with some terrific weather and our Saturday clubs rides are continuing to grow. Over 30 Maccabi riders, regularly ride along beach road every Saturday morning starting from the old Mobil petrol station site on Beach Rd Elwood. Some ride to Mordialloc, others to Carrum and some beyond and everyone meets up for a coffee back in Elwood.

Last year saw the introduction of our Junior Cycling Program. It got off to a great start and will be continuing in 2012. If you are interested to find out more details, contact Nick Orloff at

We now also have a ladies riding group. The ladies ride together every Sunday morning at 8am from the old Mobil petrol station site on Beach Rd Elwood. Contact John Gould at for more details. They ride to Black Rock or Mordialloc and it is a "no drop ride". No one is left alone irrespective of their standard or speed and everyone meets up for coffee and a shmooz afterwards.

The committee is planning more club events over the coming months so stay tuned for the details. Club membership renewals are now due. If you have not yet renewed your membership, please do so. Our new Maccabi club riding kit will be distributed to both existing and all new members. It is due this months so look out for us on the road. The Saturday morning Maccabi peloton really is a great sight to see on Beach road.

See you on the road and stay safe!!
