The bi-annual Friends of Maccabi Luncheons continue to go from strength to strength with another fantastic gathering of friends at the recent Luncheon held on 6 May.

It was a privilege to have Ian Davis join us to speak of his experience as the inaugural Chair of the Maccabi Victoria Sports Foundation, after recently stepping down from this position and passing on the baton to Dale Smorgon.  It was also wonderful to have Cara Davies and Max Needleman, two of the participants of the ‘Next Gen LEAD’ Leadership Program Group - the future of our organisation - attend this event.

The Special Guest speaker, Josh Goldstat, had the guests totally captivated with his inspirational personal journey  - making his sporting mark in 2017 winning 4 gold medals at the Maccabiah Games. At age 42, it was his first serious competition since the 1997 games and his emotional comeback to sport and Maccabiah in particular.  Josh has since gone from strength to strength - a real credit to Maccabi and our community.

We are most grateful to our Event Sponsors - Fella Hamilton and Gary Peer; Maccabi Victoria Supporters, Scott Winton, Lowe Lippmann, Gandel Philanthropy, JR Group and Bensons whose ongoing generous support of Maccabi Victoria is most appreciated.

Thank you to wonderful Auction Prize Donor, Brandon Chizik and to Chemist Warehouse, Genesis Fitness Caulfield, Cranbourne Golf Club, Rebel Sport, Solomons Butchers, Kraus Foods, Continental Kosher Butchers, Classic Cinemas and Sandy & Graeme Lewis for generously donating the fantastic prizes for our popular raffle.

We are also grateful to Handcrafted Flowers for the stunning table centrepieces and floral arrangement and to Trialia Foods for donating the wine.

And a sincere thank you to the entire Friends of Maccabi Committee Jill Diamond, Howard Kiel, Mark Klapish and Sandy Lewis for all their hard work and commitment.

The next Friends of Maccabi luncheon will be held on Monday 28 October. If you have any friends who wish to attend the luncheons or would like to be added to the ‘Friends’ and ‘Macc-Chat e-newsletter’ mailing lists, please email Jacquie their name/s, e-mail address and contact phone number.
