TEENAGE snooker sensation Marc Fridman has fallen short of securing back-to-back Australian U18 Snooker Championships at the Commercial Club, Albury, defeated in the final by Queensland’s Kyle Thomson, who Fridman beat for the title in 2018. The Victorian progressed through the best of three group stage with
relative ease, winning three of his four matches, boasting a highest break of 34.

In the best of five semi-final, Fridman was locked in a gruelling battle with NSW’s Denzel Nicholson, before the 2018 champion claimed victory 3-2 on the second last ball, setting up a replay of last year’s grand final with Thomson. The Queenslander reversed his fortunes and capped off a flawless tournament with a 4-2 win. Both players earned invites to the 2019 world championships.

Earlier, Fridman reached the semi-finals of the U18 Billiards Championships and then helped Victoria to the grand final of the Mitchell Billiards Cup – Australian Junior Teams Challenge, but the Vics were no match for Queensland.
