Friends Of Maccabi Luncheon 29 October 2018

Posted: 08-Nov-2018 by Maccabi VIC

Dear Friends of Maccabi

It was a fantastic gathering of friends at the recent Friends of Maccabi Luncheon held on October 29 and is still being talked about as one of the best that we have had.

It was a privilege to have Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva, Commonwealth Games Rhythmic Gymnastics Bronze Medal winner join us to speak of her Commonwealth Games experience at the age of 16 and her goals for the future!

A moving and heartfelt tribute was made by President, Brian Swersky to the late Sylvia Gelman AM MBE - Friends of Maccabi co-Founder, who sadly passed away recently. Sylvia’s presence at Friends of Maccabi Luncheons will be sorely missed.

Maccabi stalwarts, Philip Sheezel and Russell Jaffe, who are both planning to step down from their current roles in Maccabi at the end of this year, were acknowledged and  interviewed by MC, Mark Klapish on their time at Maccabi and what has driven them to dedicate so much of their time to our organisation.

The Special guest speaker, Paul Fink had the guests totally captivated with his inspirational personal journey since suffering a massive stroke at the age of 34, of beating the odds and finding the silver lining when life deals you what seems to be an unwinnable hand.

Mark Klapish did a sterling job once again as MC.

We are most grateful to our Event Sponsor - Fella Hamilton, Corporate Table – Jaffe Consulting, Sylvia Gelman AM MBE, Maccabi Victoria Supporters, Scott Winton, Lowe Lippmann, Gandel Philanthropy and Bensons whose ongoing generous support of Maccabi Victoria is most appreciated.

Thank you to Brighton Mazda, Chemist Warehouse, Genesis Fitness Caulfield, Cranbourne Golf Club, Rebel Sport, The Car Wash – Caulfield, Kraus Foods, Australian Jewish News, Our Kitchen Table, Rebel Sport, Continental Kosher Butchers, Classic Cinemas for generously donating the fantastic prizes for our popular raffle.

We are also grateful to Trialia Foods for donating the wine and to Handcrafted Flowers for the stunning table centrepieces and floral arrangement.

And a sincere thank you to the entire Friends of Maccabi Committee Jill Diamond, Howard Kiel and Mark Klapish for all their hard work and commitment.

Stay tuned for our 2019 luncheon dates. If you have any friends who wish to attend the luncheons or would like to be added to the ‘Friends’ and ‘Macc-Chat e-newsletter’ mailing lists, please email Jacquie their name/s, e-mail address and contact phone number.
