The Maccabi AJAX Cricket Club will officially open of its new training nets facility on Sunday evening 9th October after the Club’s opening game of the season against RMIT.

In what promises to be a huge day down at the Gary Smorgon Oval, Albert Park the 1st XI will be looking to capitalise on a strong finish to last season by knocking over the competition newcomers in a 40 over a side one-day game.

The Club’s new training nets will be officially opened at 6:30pm followed by a kosher barbeque and the screening of Fire in Babylon, a critically acclaimed documentary detailing the dominance of the West Indian cricket teams of the 1970’s and 80’s.

The nets will be opened by Miles Clemans from Maccabi Victoria in recognition of the contribution made by the Maccabi Victoria Sports Foundation to the project.

The nets opening continues a strong start to the season off-field with the recent re-appointment of David Majtlis as 1st XI captain and the prized recruitment of former Melbourne Cricket Club 1st XI player Paul Jubber as Training Manager.

Jubber has 20 years playing and coaching experience and has worked with the Victorian Bushrangers junior development squads. His focus will be on delivering an innovative training schedule to ensure players get the most out of their mid-week practise sessions.

Commenting on the recent appointment MACC President Leon Jacobs said “I am delighted Paul will be joining MACC and look forward to his refreshing new approach to training.

"It has been the committee’s priority to revitalise training so that all players learn, improve and refine their skills to maximise match day performance."

The Club will again be fielding four senior teams including a Sunday team .
New players interested in playing should contact the club at or on 0405 487 461 for more information.
