Let’s Get Together and Help Young Ori get to Sydney!

Posted: 02-Nov-2016 by Maccabi VIC

Ori Drabkin

Recently club junior Ori Drabkin (photo above) competed as a para athlete in the 9-13 age group of Primary School Sport Victoria track and field state championship. Ori had an amazing competition winning the 100m and 200m and coming second in the long jump – with pbs in both the 100m and long jump. A terrific outcome for Ori who is a regular at all our training sessions.

He has since been selected as an 11 year old Multiclass (para) athlete (100m, 200m and long jump events) to represent Victoria in the National School Sport Australia track and field champs to be held in Sydney at the end of November.

To help raise funds for the trip School Sports Victoria are conducting a raffle - we encourage you to please purchase your $2 raffle tickets through his dad Nir (ph 0451 300122) or e: drabkins@gmail.com . First prize is a Suzuki Swift car valued at over $23,000 – and there are many more great prizes. Let’s get together and help Ori get to Sydney!

Shield Competition

Great run at Shield competition by first timer, 15 year old Liam Eliau who clocked a very impressive 12.13sec (electric) in winning his heat of the 100m at Knox on the weekend. Liam is trying to qualify for the Junior Maccabiah Games team where the qualifying standard for selection is 11.84sec.

Victorian All Schools Championships

Next weekend the Victorian All Schools championships will take place at Lakeside Athletic Track. Piper Montag, Asher Marks and Liam are all entered – and maybe a few more? (please let me know).

Good luck to all our club members competing in the Championships.
