Caulfield Racecourse Run a big win for Maccabi Victoria

Posted: 09-May-2013 by Maccabi VIC

Maccabi President Joe Dorfman has declared the first Caulfield Racecourse Run and community day a great success for Maccabi Victoria with $2486 raised through donations. In addition, Maccabi received a $500 grant from the Caulfield Park Bendigo Community Bank as one of the top ten fundraisers.

“The Caulfield Community Day was an excellent opportunity to raise much needed funds for Maccabi's important work in helping strengthen Jewish identity through healthy physical activity.”

“I want to thank David Southwick for organising this great event and for his passion for helping out local community groups and charities.”

David Southwick congratulated Maccabi Victoria Inc for taking part in the fun run, saying

“In tough economic times it is the charitable and volunteer sectors which feel the pinch the hardest. This Fun Run is an opportunity to raise the dollars in an enjoyable and ‘fun’ way.”

“Maccabi Victoria Inc is a great local organisation that I have had the pleasure of working closely with as your local member. The funds raised at this event will help promote a healthy and active lifestyle within our community”

Including walk up registrations, 525 runners took part in the 8.5k run or the 3.5k run and walk. A remarkable $46,275 has been raised by these runners with donations still able to be made.

As well as a charity Fun Run, a Community Day in celebration of the new $1.8 million park in the centre of the Caulfield Racecourse was also held.

Up to 1500 people showed up for a day of rides, entertainment and sports exhibitions from local clubs.
