Development Grants Help Clubs Achieve

Posted: 26-Nov-2012 by Maccabi VIC

Earlier in 2012, Maccabi Victoria provided a grant to many of its member clubs to assist with coaching, infrastructure and events. These grants are valuable assets which help our clubs reach new heights.

Here is what some of our clubs had to say about how they have used their grants:

AJAX Junior Football Club

The AJAX Junior Football Club received a grant this year for coaching accreditation. This allowed us to fund all our new coaches both from within the junior club and also our new Auskick coaches with their Level 1 coaching accreditation certificates from Football Victoria. This is an important criteria for all coaches within the South Metro Junior Football League and we are thankful that Maccabi Victoria was able to assist us with the process.

 Maccabi Victoria Basketball Club

Firstly, thank you for the support to the Basketball Club by providing the grants. We have used this grant for Uniforms, Fee Relief and Specialist & Level 1 Coaching Courses.

Uniforms: This grant was equally shared by the Men's program & the juniors. The men now play in uniforms in keeping with a Big V division 2 team, while the juniors have been able to make a small top up order to ensure we do not run out of particular sizes which assists our cashflow.

Fee Relief: The Club provides fee relief to players whose families might not otherwise be able to afford our registration fees. We are proud to assist 7 players pursuant to this grant.

Specialist & Level 1 Coaching Courses: The club aims to appoint coaches who are able to best develop our players. To this end being able to provide specialist coaches to assist our coaches as well as putting our coaches through Level 1 coaching courses will benefit the club in having a strong coaching roster for our 58 junior teams.

Maccabi Cycling Club

The Maccabi Cycling Club has been using the grant to help subsidise the cost of our Maccabi Young Guns program, which aims to develop competitive junior cyclists.

We've been using the services of Rob Crowe, a dual cycling Olympian, to mentor, coach & guide a group of 13 kids (all boys at this stage) between 12 and 17 years old

The boys have started racing recently, and we're starting to see results
