Senior women finish off with a bang!

Monash University FC turned up to a sunny Caulfield park on Sunday afternoon hoping to cement their place in third spot. The North Caulfield senior women had other ideas and ran away with a 3-1 victory, narrowly snatching 3rd place, to finish of an excellent season.

Nat Court got the girls off to the dream start 3 minutes in with a hard and low shot into the bottom left corner, leaving the goal keeper with no chance. Monash fought back and had a number opportunities which were slammed down by goalkeeper Jo Friedman.

Rebecca Rubenstein's long thrown ins were causing all sorts of headaches for the opposition. Finally a break through came with a long throw into the box which saw Keren Schneeweiss out muscle her opponent and cleverly header the ball into the back of the net.

Monash clawed their way back into the game, but defenders Jess Nash and Jeanie susser repelled every attack. Unfortunately a clever string of passes saw their central midfielder bang the ball past Friedman just on half time.

A large crowd energised the north Caulfield team in the second half and saw a number of opportunities go begging. Ellie Kras was superb on the right wing, dictating the game in her own terms. She linked up well with Romy Sacks and Amy Silver, who fought hard all game. Substitute Sophie Finger had an immediate impact upon coming on, running hard down the left wing. So too was Jen Eisfelder lively up front

Rachel Rubenstein sealed the win when she tapped in a ball that came off the Monash keeper's hands.

Coach Tim Purcell and assistant coach Robbie Roth were thrilled with the win, with both coaches believing it was the best all round performance of the season
