Welcome to the Maccabi Hockey Club News for the latest results from the weekend's games, fixtures for the coming weeks and other news

Scoreboard and Upcoming Fixtures

SENIORS-FIRSTS  Round 3: Maccabi 0 – 0 TEM Blue

Maccabi Hockey Club has played out a hard fought 0-0 draw with table topping TEMs, the team that defeated them in last year’s semi-final. It was a very good point for Maccabi, although it leaves it without a victory in the first two games. Playing against a team with more experience, the young Maccabi side worked hard without the ball to stretch the TEM defence and generated several short corner opportunities through strong dribbling and linkup play between forwards Alon Beder, Jarred Grek and Bryce Watson. At the other end, Maccabi was well served by Orren Chabat and Ben Kaye in defence, while Ethan Faifer pulled off several saves to keep Maccabi in the game.

Upcoming Fixtures:

Round 4: vs Old Melburnians 8th May at 5.00 at F1 – Footscray Hockey Field

Round 5: vs MCC 15th May at 3.30 at Albert Park

SENIORS-SECONDS   Round 2: Maccabi 0 – 4 Old East Malvern

The seconds went down 4-0 to Old East Malvern. The team started well in the first half, winning a couple of short corners which could not be converted and went into the half time break 1-0 down. Defensive lapses in the 2nd half resulted in the score line blowing out.

Upcoming Fixtures

Round 4: Bye

Round 5: vs Old Xaverians 15th May at 2.00 at Albert Park

MASTERS   Round 3: Maccabi 8 – 2 La Trobe

The Vets ventured out to a cold and windy Bundoora to play Latrobe. In a hard fought first half, Big Wayne scored Maccabi’s only goal of the half but by the end of the half Maccabi was down 2-1. A disallowed goal for Long Arms Harley just before half time spurned on a remarkable change of fortune. Game changer Rappa scored 2, Big Wayne took his tally to 3, Big Mouth Geiger scored 1 and Tomahawk Grunny scored 2. Final score was 8-2 to Maccabi. The defenders did ok but let 2 goals through.
