On Friday January 19, Maccabi Victoria All Abilities were very proud to be named joint winners for Glen Eira’s Community Group of the Year Award.

Presented at Council’s annual Australia Day breakfast by Glen Eira Mayor Cr Tony Athanasopoulos, the Awards recognise the outstanding contributions of community groups which, through hard work and dedication, have significantly contributed to the Glen Eira community.

With only 24% of Victorians with a disability currently participating in sport and recreation (compared to 79% of the mainstream population), it’s more important than ever for organisations to be trying to work towards inclusive and accessible sport.

Guest speaker at the Breakfast was the Founder of impact Kathy Kaplan OAM. impact is a volunteer run organisation providing assistance to women and children fleeing extreme violence at home.

Over 25 individuals and groups were nominated for the Awards, and we are very proud to have been named a winner, alongside Inclusion Melbourne.

Kol Ha’Kavod to all of the nominees, finalists and winners for their contribution to making Glen Eira a fantastic community.
