Volunteering at the In One Voice Festival

Posted: 19-Mar-2015 by All Abilities

Last Sunday 15 March saw the resurgence of the popular In One voice Festival.  This celebration of Jewish cultural life in Australia, consisting of concerts, dancing, art exhibitions and other roving entertainment was an all-inclusive event involving over 90 different community groups offering exciting activities to engage people of all ages, in particular Jewish youth.

And this is where Maccabi was called upon to get involved. And get involved we did.

13 members from our All Abilities Group, helped out with the sports activities and also manning the Maccabi Stall all day – giving out free showbags and taking some happy snaps for our 90th Anniversary celebrations.

Many of our fantastic clubs, including Cricket, Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Footy, Table Tennis, Soccer, Athletics and Tennis ran a variety of sporting activities/workshops/competitions throughout the day on the Sholem Aleichem school courts as well as an action packed sports circuit.

The In One Voice organisers have had great feedback from the Maccabi sports activities - with parents approaching them saying they would like to see even more next year – Way to go Maccabi!

This was a wonderful opportunity for Maccabi to showcase its clubs and activities to a wider network, and we were delighted with the amount of people young and old who visited the Maccabi stall enquiring about Maccabi clubs and reminiscing about their happy memories at Maccabi.

And a huge thanks to our Awesome Maccabi Victoria Admin team-Jacquie Lerner and Nicole Brown, for taking the All Abilities Group under their wing and inviting us to come along and participate in this event.
