Congratulations and a virtual round of applause for two of our members, Mattie Michaels and Guy Slome, and their fathers Max and Jonathon. The awesome foursome participated in and successfully completed the '2014 Bupa Around the Bay'  event. This cycling event aims to raise awareness and fundraise for disadvantaged children. Please show your support and make a online donation today!

Despite the windy weather, the group stayed strong until the finish line. They completed the 50 KM ride in approxmately 4 hours and thirty minutes. This is an incredible effort and we are very proud of them all.

Mattie and Guy are avid bike-riders and have taken part in this ride-athon several times before. Visit our photo gallery to see images from their ride last year.

Earlier this year, Mattie and Guy both took part in the Cycling Victoria 10 week Accessible Cycling Program in Hawthorn which aimed to get people active and involved in cycling. Each session focused on the development of bike skills, and offered links to cycling clubs for further cycling opportunities.

The Maccabi Cycling Club has shown great support to Guy and Mattie, by presenting them with their very own Maccabi Cycling tops earlier this year. Please view a previous news items for more information and images of this kind gesture. The Club have also wished Mattie and Guy goodluck for the Sunday's ride in their latest newsletter:- "There are also two of Maccabi All Abilities members tackling the 50Km ride - good luck Guy & Mattie! "

A message from Guy:

"Hey guys,

This Sunday, I am riding in the 2014 Bupa Around the Bay bike ride to help Australian children in need.

Why? Because right now, 1 in 10 Australian children are living in disadvantage.
This limits their choices, opportunities and outcomes in life because they don’t have access to the things they need for school to help them make the most of their education.Education is the key to a better future, and these kids deserve the chance to create a better future for themselves. And so I am riding to raise funds to allow these kids to make the most of their school years and realise their potential.

My goal is to raise $200 which will provide a disadvantaged student with a School Essential Pack, comprising of necessities such as school shoes, stationary, school books and excursions. But I need your help to reach my goal...
Can you support my efforts to help a child in need?

Simply click on the link below to view my fundraising page and make a donation:
You will receive a receipt as soon as you complete your donation. All funds raised from the ride will help The Smith Family continue their work to help Australian children in need break the cycle of disadvantage.

Thanks for your support.

P.S. Wish me luck on Sunday!
