Zvi Schweitzer the tennis superstar!

Posted: 13-Oct-2014 by All Abilities

On the weekend of October 11 and 12 the Victorian Tennis Championships for players with an Intellectual Disability was held at the Albert Reserve.  Zvi Schweitzer from Maccabi Tennis Club successfully defended his singles title and was able to add the doubles title.

This is the fourth time Zvi has been the Victorian Singles champion, to add to his victories in 2009, 2010 and 2013.  Unlike last year's victory which was a very tight affair, needing to come back from one set down to level at one set all and then claim victory in the third set tie break, this time the result was never in doubt, with Zvi securing victory in two easy sets.

This victory will keep Zvi near the top of the Australian rankings for players with an Intellectual Disability to help him qualify for his goal of a fifth time at representing Australia in tennis.  Zvi hopes to be part of the Australian Tennis Team which will be travelling to Ecuador in September 2015 as part of the Global Games.

Keep up the good work Zvi, we are so proud of you.

After six sets of tennis, a tired but happy Zvi Schweitzer with his singles and doubles trophies at the Albert Reserve Tennis Centre.
