Junior Carnival - Sydney, January 2019


General Info

  • Dates: Tuesday 15th – Tuesday 22nd January 2019
  • Location: Sydney
  • Ages: 12-16 / school years 6-10 (minimum age is 11 yrs + 9 mths by January 2019)

Sports

  • Tournament sports being offered are netball, soccer, basketball, futsal, tennis & biathlon (swim & run)
  • Extra participative sports will also be offered
  • Participants can select up to 2 of the above sports (with biathlon as a 3rd option) - categories to be advised
  • Participants do not need to be a member of a Maccabi club – there is a spot for everyone!

Costs

There are 3 components:

  • Registration Fee: $699 (increases to $799 from August 1st)
  • Airfare: Each state to organise / costs will vary
  • Uniform: Each state to organise / costs will vary ($30-$100)

Registration fees cover meals, local transport, all sports & activities. Early bird price available through end of July. Registrations close end of November.

Flights: Will be travelling on the 15th & 22nd January 2019 (WA to depart 14th Jan).

Fee Assistance

It is Maccabi policy that NO CHILD SHOULD MISS OUT due to financial reasons. Fee assistance is available. A submisison process will be run via each state's team management, privacy of information / discretion is assured. You can downlaod the financial assistance application form below. Please complete & send to your State Team Manager.

 

Billeting Policy

All kids from outside of NSW will be billeted to stay at a host family in Sydney. 

  • All participants are expected to stay with Carnival host families in Sydney, not with households outside of Carnival (family/relatives included).
  • A 1:1 billet/host ratio is the policy
  • Participants have the opportunity to pre-arrange billets for Carnival (this is not essential, all kids will be allocated billets).
  • To arrange your own billet with a host family, – please advise on the registration form (both families, interstate & Sydney host must confirm)
  • The organising committee will grant a participant's first billeting choice as long as it matches with the other/host participant's request.
  • Additional billeting requests will be considered, but will not be guaranteed. 
  • For home state participants a parent must be home during Carnival to allow a billet to be placed in that home.
  • Include your request for ‘friends with friends’ when you register, but there are no guarantees (e.g. 3 VIC friends billeted to 3 NSW friends)
  • Billeting allocations based on: Gender  /  Age / Shomer Shabbat  /  Kashrut  / Sports
  • The billeting co-ordinator has absolute discretion to make decisions in line with the billeting policy
  • Every adult in the host household will be required to submit a valid working with children check (WWC)
