When is the program?

The program will leave Australia on 27 January 2014 – with an orientation in Australia in late November or December. 

The MSLP finishes on the 30th of June 2013 – with a seminar at Kfar Maccabiah in Tel Aviv.

Who is eligible?

School leavers and persons aged 17-20 looking for a Gap year program
Participation is subject to an interview process and defined selection criteria
Involvement in a Maccabi club is preferred but not mandatory

How much will it cost?

The program content is still being finalised however, the ground cost will be in the range of approx. $13,000

This cost includes a trip to Poland, all accommodation, insurance, meals and transport. 

Flights will be additional. 

How many people are expected to be on the Program?

The program is being run by Maccabi World Union and is being promoted to likely candidates around the world; however, there is a minimum of 16 participants for the program to run. There has been strong interest from Great Britain and the USA.

Will I receive a coaching accreditation certificate?

The program is being run as a Sports Leadership program where all participants will come away with both Leadership and Sports Management skills. The Sports management component is being run at Wingate and a certificate of completion will be available at the end of the program. This is not an accreditation for coaching.

What Sport opportunities are there?

The whole program is geared to those who are interested in Sports, not only is there the program at Wingate, right throughout the program participants will have involvement in sport as a spectator to some of the key events during the period, but also will utilise skills learnt and assist disadvantaged kids in the community gain confidence through Sports.

Are the modules optional?

At this stage all modules are included in the program; however, subject to numbers there could be some program variation. 

Where will we live?

Rather than being based in one location – accommodation will be provided in Youth Hostels closest to where the program is being run at the time.

Who is managing the Program?

Maccabi World Union is the program sponsor and will be managing all elements of it – including providing a Madrich on the ground for the duration of the program.

Is there a commitment to Maccabi once I return?

Each participant will need to be aligned to a Maccabi club before leaving on the program – this involvement will be determined by the club involved, however, on return from the program there is an expectation that participants stay involved with their nominated club for at least 12 months so that they can help develop the next generation of sportspeople

Are there funding options available?

As the program is run through the Zionist Federation of Australia, all participants are able to apply for funding through the MASA program – more details will be provided at the information evening
