The Rubinstein family shivering pre-start

by Deborah Shapira

There was a good attendance despite a frosty morning. Gratifyingly there was a great competition in the juniors long course with several stepping up to the distance for the first time and several members previously MIA came out of the woodwork to race.

In the men's race Alan Kaplan and Alex Lehrer, the latter after a 2 year "holiday", had a hard time chasing down Johnny Lewis for first place. There were good performances from everyone else including the ever-improving Daniel Butt. Everyone had a different reason to race to day including keeping personal insurance premiums down, training for 2017 Maccabiah or just enjoying the glorious winter sunshine.

Laura Madeisky and Deb Shapira had a go at the enticer distance which Laura won. Brayden Bloch led from start to finish to win the boys event while Dena Rubinstein won the girls event. Eve Lewis won the girls' short event.

It was also a welcome back to the Cycling Time Trial event won by Sean Bloch.

Many thanks to Alan Rubinstein who acted as time keeper.
