Posted: 27-Apr-2015 by Tenpin Super League

Maccabi NSW News Editor, Leanne Shelton, recently interviewed Evelyn Rose as part of the e-newsletters regular 'Getting to know...' section.

What is your role at the club and who else is on the committee?

I am the Secretary and Treasurer of Maccabi Tenpin Super League. Our Committee consists of President, Susan Sznajer and Vice-President, John Storey. I have had this position since our club was formed 13 years ago.

How long have you been bowling for?

I have been bowling since 1977. My family moved to Rose Bay from Strathfield and I was asked by a friend who bowled at Rushcutters’s Bowling Centre, for NSW Maccabi Tenpin, if I would join her team on Sunday evening for she had a vacancy spot. I said ‎”yes” and as they say the rest is history!

What is your highest score?

My highest score was in 1995 bowling 233; 225 and 238 for a 696 series. Also that year I had another high series of 623 comprising games of 201;200 and 222. I also have won seven NSW Tenpin Open titles, a few Victorian Women Open Titles and Australian Jewish Open Titles. Also I have been too many Senior Carnivals over the years plus Maccabiah Games in Israel.

What do you love about tenpin bowling?

What I love about tenpin bowling is the friendship you make with other bowlers and the social aspect of it. Our club has a few social events and we have fun.

How would you spend your ideal weekend?
My ideal weekend is spending it with friends for dinner and a show at South Juniors or just relaxing with a DVD movie that I yet to catch up with which I had missed at the movies.

What’s your favourite band?
I have a few favourite, I love The Beatles; The Monkees; The Bee Gees and Human Nature.

What was the last movie you saw?
The last movie I saw was last Sunday, for which I enjoyed very much, it was “The Age of Adaline”.
