Anne Besser - Swimming

Anne had done 98 triathlons, represented Australia 12 times (Triathlon World Championships, 2 Maccabiot and 1 Maccabi Pan American Games, before needing a spinal fusion. She managed the Triathlon/Cycling Team at the 2013 Maccabiah. Wanting to be a competitor again, she took up the new sport of competitive pool swimming at 69 and did her first ever race in the pool at 70 years of age in 2016, and went on to qualify for the Maccabiah 2017 Swim Team in 4 events. Anne won 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals at the Maccabiah Games in the freestyle events.  

Daniella Goodridge - Swimming

Daniella swam at National level as a teenager in South Africa, though she missed selection for the 1993 Maccabiah. She achieved several personal goals by qualifying for and eventually winning gold at the 2013 Maccabiah. Work and family commitments filled the next 3 years until Daniella began training again for the 2017 Maccabiah... with different goals this time. All she wanted from the Games was to participate and be present for our daughter, Gabi who debuted as a Junior swimmer. Despite a limited preparation, Daniella excelled in lead-up meets in Australia (State and Nationals) and then surprised even herself by once again winning Maccabiah gold in the 50m Freestyle, silver in the 100m Freestyle and bronze in the 50m Backstroke.

Jody Drutman - Golf

Jody has always had a love for sport, her passion for golf is evidence of this, playing weekly, participating in the masters women's Maccabiah games where they won silver. She has been instrumental in resurrecting the NSW women’s golf again. Arranged the women’s day in August with over 30 ladies and also arranged about 16 ladies to take part in that NSW Maccabi golf day. She has scored 3 hole in ones. One of which occurred at Maccabiah games and she placed first in the ladies Maccabi cup to name a few of her achievements. 

Dafna Orbach - Lawn Bowls

Dafna has excelled in various sports for many years. She is passionately competitive without being overly aggressive. 

Dafna has a long list of national achievements for 2017 including winning the Victorian Open Triples and Maccabi NSW Bowls Ladies Singles. She was the runner up of Maccabi NSW Bowls Open Singles.
