Jared Elbourne - Swimming (Age 15)

Jared has been swimming since age 7 and always has the dream of representing Australia in swimming. This dream came true for Jared in 2017 being a successful member of the Maccabiah Jnr Swim team. Jared competed in 11 races, achieved 11 personal best times, 1 A qualifying finals, coming home with 3 bronze medals in 3 relays. Together with this Jared, successfully completed his Surf Life Saving Bronze Medallion during 2017. In 2017 Jared received the Jnr Excellence award from Swimming Australia for the 6th consecutive year and represented Maccabi Swimming at NSW State Championships. 

Jared Frack - Soccer (Age 14)

Jared is an energetic and dedicated football player, who competes for Hakoah in both indoor and outdoor competitions. Jared is a great team leader, and as a result has been awarded captaincy by his coaches on various occasions, who believe his leadership qualities help encourage fellow teammates. He has been very successful during his time playing for the club. This is best exemplified by his numerous football achievements, most notably making the NSW Under 14 team last year, and competing in the Nationals in Coffs Harbour. 

Yonatan Freund - Karate (Age 16)

Yonatan commenced karate at the age of 5, and started competing in the local State Tournaments from the age of 9. After a few years, he joined the State Karate Team, where he has competed in the Nationals for the last 5 years. In 2016 he joined the Australian team, winning silver in the Commonwealth Karate Championships. He has since competed 4 times for Australia, with the highlight being the 2017 World Championships in Spain. In 2016, Yonatan become a Black Belt, part of his long term commitment to the sport.

In 2017 at the Junior World Championships, Yonatan won his round 1 fight but lost his 2nd. He won gold at the Australian Open and silver at the Australian Championships. 

Jonah Vaysbakh - Basketball (Age 12)

Jonah is competitive and driven and this is displayed through his commitment in playing 3 different sports all at representative levels. These include playing Soccer for Hakoah, Futsal for Hakoah and Basketball for the Sydney Comets. He has played in both state and local tournaments at a representative level in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Jonah represented CIS in the State Basketball Tournament in Goulburn and won the Grand Final at the City of Sydney Basketball Tournament.

Alon Pajor - Swimming (Age 16)

Alon has trained and competed in swimming from the age of 8. For the last 6 years he's trained at Moriah College and competed as a part of the resurgent Maccabi Swimming Club Team. Alon has competed at State Age Championship level for the past 5 years and in 2017 competed at his third National Age Championships. The 20th Maccabiah had been Alon's primary goal for more than 4 years and he lead the Australian Junior Boys team throughout the meet. 

Alon was Moriah School 16yrs Age Champion and proceeded to place 1st and 2nd at the CDSSA championships and AICES Championships in a number of races and 6th place in NSW CIS Championships 200m freestyle. 

At the 20th Maccabiah Games, July 2017 Alon received a silver medal in the Junior Boys 400m freestyle and 4th place in the Junior Boys 100m and 200m freestyle. He also won 3 bronze medals in the junior boys relays. 

Mathew Sharp - Water Polo (Age 17)

Mathew has only been playing water polo for 4 years, 3 of which he has been selected in the Australian junior squad. He moved schools in mid -2016 to a GPS school to further his sport. 

He represented his country in the Australia Junior Water Polo team and won bronze in Slovakia. As well as competing for the Australian Schoolboys Team, Mathew also competed for the USA Maccabiah Junior Water Polo Team and won bronze. 

Ben Fuchs - Soccer (Age 14)

Ben has been playing soccer from the age of four. He started with Maccabi U6's and has been playing for Hakoah since U12's. He is a true leader, as shown by his captaincy, a team player, well-liked by his team members, coaches and is respected by his opposition players. 

Ben co-captained the Hakoah U14 team, scoring 15 goals and assisting 15+ goals during the 2017 season. He received 'Player's Player' award 2017 and the 'Player with most potential' award from Hakoah FC 2016. Ben was selected as a member of the NSW U14 team, to represent NSW at Coffs Harbour National competition.
