Touch Football Finals Afternoon

Posted: 03-Sep-2019 by Maccabi NSW

The Maccabi Touch football finals went down last weekend on a spectacular afternoon! On what was the warmest day of the Winter season, tons of spectators came down to watch the third place playoff followed by the grand final. The games did not disappoint as the crowd enjoyed a picnic and the spectacle of some awesome touch football.

The third place matchup featured YSNP, captained by Yoni Hochberg and NGS, led by Sam Sacks. The match kicked off with both teams putting in some great moves and runs through the middle of the field. As the game progressed, YSNP was no match for the speed and fitness of NGS as they ran away with it in the second half. Awesome tactical plays were on display by both teams with Nathan Raber awarded MVP of the match for his speed and agility that helped secure a number of tries for his team.

The grand final was the main event of the afternoon – a contentious match that would see the top two teams from the season face off. The younger Bolts were up against the seasoned professionals Touch Me if You Can in an epic battle for the title. Both teams were running hard, putting blistering set pieces together, only to be tracked down by the other team. With experienced players in the competitive comps, they seemed evenly matched at the begining. In the end, it took some masterclass from touch football veterans Yotam Hatzvi and Adam Zinman to see Touch Me if you Can power to a win over the Bolts and claim the Benny Glattstein Shield as winners of the club's winter competition.

A massive thank you and yishekoach to all those who assisted in making the competition happen. The competition would not be able to go ahead without the dedication of the weekly referees, the work of competition organiser Yoni Hochberg, assisted by Jodi Velik and the guidance of club president David Weiner.  For enquiries about Maccabi Touch Football, contact
