All Abilities: Education Through Experience Program Launches!

Posted: 23-Jul-2019 by Maccabi NSW

Our Maccabi All Abilities 'Education Through Experience' Program launched recently at Moriah College.

The aim of the program is to build awareness and promote inclusion; to understand that people with a disability have a valued place in our sporting arena.

This program is possible through the generosity of the JCA Choice Foundation and we have partnered with Wheelchair Sports NSW to run these incredible & impactful sessions.

A group of Moriah year 6 boys met the day with curiosity & enthusiasm. First, they heard a personal story from a wheelchair sportsman, getting an insight into his life.

Then, they gave wheelchair basketball a go themselves, facing the challenge of playing sport without using their legs. The participants saw things from a different perspective, starting to comprehend the daily obstacles faced by people who have a physical disability.

We have plans to run this program with other schools and year groups in the the near future. Next is Mount Sinai, coming up soon!

Thank you to the JCA The Choice Foundation for your generous support for this program, and to Moriah College for your willingness to be involved.
