Junior Carnival in Sydney Kicks off the Year!

Posted: 23-Jan-2019 by Maccabi NSW

An incredible start to 2019!

Dear Maccabi Family,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2019! I hope you have managed to get a good rest over the holidays.

Here at Maccabi NSW, we have been busy with Sydney Junior Carnival. We have entertained and engaged 350 plus participants in both competitive and social sports and fun social activities. Carnival organizers Lynne Berson and Bronwyn Elbourne, together with their committee, have delivered an exciting program, which has seen State and New Zealand partcipants compete in Basketball, Futsal, Soccer, Biathlon, Tennis and Netball as well as an incredible opening ceremony on the world’s most iconic harbour and a closing ceremony at Taronga Zoo.

Thank you to those many volunteers from around Maccabi for helping out, giving up your time and creating well worthwhile competitions. Thank you all to our many sponsors and communal organizations who supported us and made it happen and to JCA, B’nai Brith and Moriah College for allowing us to engage in a meaningful Community day.

Thanks also to Friendship Circle who helped to make Carnival an inclusive event and organised lots of support so participants of all abilities could participate.

To the many volunteers, team managers, youth leaders and to the parents who opened their homes to host Maccabi members from interstate or overseas, thank you for helping to connect the Jewish community and embrace our values of teamwork, respect and cooperation.

I sincerely hope that lasting friendships have been made that will last a lifetime.

With Maccabi greetings,

Lauren Ehrlich
