Maccabi LIFE Launches in Sydney!

Posted: 28-Sep-2018 by Maccabi NSW

Maccabi LIFE officially launched in Sydney last night, with over 90 Maccabi & community leaders gathering to hear about what's in store and listen to a couple of excellent guest speakers.

Maccabi LIFE is a new inititiative that is rolling out nationally; our objective is to engage our community more effectively under the banner of health & wellness. We’ll be doing this in numerous ways including an online portal (which is now live), new programs & activities and also various educational seminars.

MC Darren Isenberg kicked things off and kept everyone entertained with some humorous observations. Maccabi NSW President Lauren Ehrlich gave the official welcome address, after which Maccabi Australia President Jeff Sher gave an enthusiastic brief of what is Maccabi LIFE and why it's so important that we evolve and grow our service offering to the community.

There were two special guest speakers; Professor Kerryn Phelps AM gave insights into the obesity epedemic and how we can actively fight it, while Associate Professor Judith Lacey gave an intriguing presentation on the role of exercise in cancer treatment.

Maccabi LIFE will sit alongside and complement Maccabi's core operations of organised sport, but will be more focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle to many members of our community who may not be involved in regular physical activity. We see this as an opportunity to connect with many who we are not currently reaching, to make a positive impact on them and on our broader community.

Thank you to all who contributed for this event - to Dr Kerryn Phelps, Judith Lacey & Darren Isenberg for volunteering their time & expertise. A huge thanks to Ro Markson and her AC Event Agency for giving so generously to help organise the event.
