Goldstat becomes a Triathlon World Champion!

Five Maccabiah athletes compete at the Triathlon World Championship on the Gold Coast!

Last weekend Neil Slonim (VIC), Barry Lipp (VIC), Josh Goldstat (VIC), Julian Rifkin (NSW) and Daniel Rifkin (NSW) all raced at the International Triathlon Union World Championship that took place on the Gold Coast over the weekend. 

All men acheived incredible results and most noteably Josh Goldstat came in 1st place in his division making him a World Champion!

The results were as follows:

Neil and Josh competed in the sprint (750m/20km.5km) - results:

  • Josh in the 40-44 age group, had a time of 1.00 hours and 1st place 
  • Neil in 65-69, 1.20 hours and 19th place

Barry, Julian & Daniel completed the Olympic Distance (1.5km/40km/10km) - results:

  • Julian Rifkin in 60-64 age group completed in 2.32 and placed 48th
  • Barry Lipp in the same age group - time of 2.34 and placed 51st
  • Julian’s son Daniel in 30-34 age group had a time of 2.03 and placed 41st

Daniel also placed 2nd in his age group in an acquathon lead up race which was a 750m swim followed by a 5km run.
