Vale Phil Michael

Posted: 18-Jun-2015 by Maccabi NSW

Phil and Margo Michael at a Senior Carnival in the 1950s.

THERE are few families as synonymous with Maccabi as the Michaels and Ezekiels, and Maccabi NSW was saddened to hear of the passing of Phillip Michael over the weekend.

Phil, together with his wife Margo, children Shelley and Gary, and five grandchildren, have a long and rich history with our organisation – both as players and administrators.

On the sports field he loved all sports, particularly excelling in tennis, rugby, rugby league, ten pin and especially cricket, and in recent times, lawn bowls.

Carnival was a big part of Michael family life and Phil would have attended more than 25 – making friends who remain the family’s nearest and dearest some 50 years later. It’s a wonderful example of what Maccabi is all about.

Phil's love of sport and community has been passed down through two generations, and his grandchildren, Tali, Adam and Robbie Ezekiel, and Zak and Ella Michael, are now heavily involved in Maccabi life today on and off the field.

We wish the family long life.
