2014 Registrations are Open!

Posted: 30-Jan-2014 by Northside Football Club

Dear members

 Welcome to Season 2014

With school holidays coming to an end, a successful summer of cricket finishing and the January transfer window reaching a crescendo, there can only be one thing looming on the horizon: Maccabi Northside Football is back!

Over the summer months, your committee has been hard at work preparing for what is another exciting year ahead. We hope you are ready to dust off the boots and to join us in what is a special year for global football.

With the new season just around the corner, there are a number of announcements we need to make:

The 2014 Committee remains unchanged from 2013:
• Justin Lipman - President
• Daniel Abelsohn - Vice President
• Guy Abelsohn - Treasurer

Season 2013
Last season saw further progress both on and off the field. Despite relegation from the Premier League, our junior ranks continued to impress across the board. Many players were elevated to the all age ranks successfully, pointing towards a bright future for our club. Our Division 5 side will be competing in the 4’s this season after a strong season that saw them win promotion at a canter. It was also most pleasing to see the regeneration of our junior ranks, as more than 20 kids under the age of 8 pulled on the sky blue shirt for the first time.

 Season 2014
The forthcoming season shapes as yet another year of transformation. Our most recent history has largely been shaped by our all age members, but in 2014, we will field as many Under 18 and below players as adults for the first time in over 5 years. This is extremely important in ensuring the continuity of our club and we are committed to supporting our junior base moving forward.

Within the senior ranks of the club, we are pleased to announce the appointment of club stalwart, Andy Tooch, as head coach of our Division 2 squad. Andy is dedicated to the Nash and we wish him every success with his squad through the winter.

Goals for 2014.

The committee is determined to continue to provide you with a fun, competitive and rewarding football experience each and every year. We understand that you make a significant financial commitment to play for the sky blues and we promise to endeavor to provide the best possible environment for all of our players. We are hoping to be more transparent in our actions this year giving you all a better understanding of what we are doing with your registration fees.

With this in mind, we have established the following goals for 2014:

1. Finances: The committee will ensure the continued financial security of the club by weighing up monetary decisions on an individual basis with the entire playing base’s needs in mind. Finances will be distributed more evenly across the club.
2. On-field: Promotion back to the Premier League. Supporting our strong under 18 squad within a 2 year framework. A commitment to skill development for our young junior base.

3. Off-field: We want our relationship with our members and players to be more positive by creating greater transparency and accessibility. We are committed to ensuring our supporters are well behaved and responsible at NSFA grounds.

4. Social: The committee is looking to continue our social efforts from last season to foster a connection between all of our players, whatever age. We are looking to introduce new initiatives to add to our fantasy games, newsletters and events, particularly with the World Cup in mind.

All registrations will be taking place online this year. If you are unable to register online, please contact us at and we will make other arrangements for you.

Registration

Registration is now officially open. Please register by link below. As with previous seasons, this is an online process. In exciting news, we are proud to announce a freeze on player fees for 2014. While this may not seem significant, it is important to contextualize this decision. In December NSFA announced plans to move towards a new fee system over several years that has seen our club face significantly higher association costs. Despite a 5-15% jump in fees from NSFA, we are striving to make grassroots football affordable and find alternative funding strategies.

To give you an idea of the impact of NSFA’s disappointing decision, it costs our club $311.48 to register an all age player in the 2nd division this season. This does not include the additional costs of coaching, equipment, uniforms, referees and training grounds. Unfortunately playing soccer is an expensive exercise!

To this end, we ask for your continued assistance in player recruitment. We are always welcoming of new players and if you know of anyone interested in joining in 2014, please point them in the right direction. Additionally, if you are interested in any sponsorship opportunities or donations, please be in touch with Justin on 0410 691 223.
